2020 J&S Reserve Barbera

2020 J&S Reserve Barbera

Vineyard/Vintage Notes:  100% from Amador County. Amador County is extremely well suited to Barbera.  Barbera both buds out earlier and ripens later than Zinfandel producing grapes at lower pH with full bright varietal fruit.  Amador County is rapidly becoming known as the best wine growing region in the world for Barbera.

Vintage:  Early budbreak with no frost and an even growing season without any heat spikes or prolonged cold spells has produced an average to larger than average size crop of high quality dark and flavorful fruit. Unlike last year all the varieties fared well except Petite Sirah.  A picture-perfect year for vines and fruit.  Photos from this year will be the ones used in promotional materials for years to come.

Winemaker’s Notes:  Amador County Barbera produces small bunches of high extraction, perfect pH and flavors to produce world class Barbera.

Tasting Notes:  Dark color, clean and fresh with a hint of mulberry, this fleshy and varietal Barbera has a rich long extractive finish.

I opened a white label barbera tonight just because. It's absolutely fantastic. I routinely gift 1869 or a barbera or syrah when the situation calls and I've never not received a resounding thanks, especially from my enophile friends. It's so refreshing to have a trusted label that literally everyone enjoys and is surprised by how much they enjoy it. Thank y'all for making amazing wines and for bringing us along for the journey. You are truly a part of the tapestry of many of the most important celebrations in our lives. Thomas
