Vineyard/Vintage Notes: 76% from the Spinetta Zinfandel Vineyard in Amador County. This vineyard was planted in 1984 and is on high elevation west facing rolling hills on the high eastern rim of the Shenandoah Valley of Amador County. It is farmed to express the Zinfandel terroir of Amador County. 13% is Barbera from the same Spinetta Vineyard. 11% is Syrah from the York Vineyard in Fiddletown. This vineyard is planted high atop a lava cap. The lack of soil forces the vines to struggle producing a small yielding highly intense flavored wine, thus giving the overall blend a rich intensity.

Tasting Notes
Briary varietal Zinfandel. Extractive, All Spice, Mulberry, Refreshing, Roses, Pomegranate, Cherry like, Strawberry, Bright Red Fruits, Red Licorice. Long lingering fleshy finish showing a complete wine from beginning to end. Complexity with first growth quality.

Other Notes
Vintage Notes: No spring frosts. Cold wet spring created different results from Valley Floor vineyards to high elevation mountain vineyards. When the Valley Floor vineyards in Napa flowered, we had decent weather and a good set producing a larger than normal crop. The higher elevation vineyards in Amador County flowered three weeks later during a cold wet time producing crop yields only 50% of normal. The rest of the crowing season was normal without any high heat spells during the ripening. The mountain vineyards in a long-drawn-out harvest produced extractive balanced wines. The Valley floor wines are more average in quality.
