What happens when you decide to write a Thanksgiving newsletter to your mailing list and you realize you don't have any Thanksgiving pictures? You decide to have an impromptu Thanksgiving dinner and take some! That's what happened yesterday, Friday, October 18. At 10:00 am we invited several friends, went to the store for the turkey and accompaniments, and got cooking. Scott put the turkey on the spit–his favorite way to cook turkey. He enhances the flavors by pouring some of his Scott Harvey Mendocino Riesling over it. Our dinner guests–always up for party– were mainly friends from various wineries here in Napa Valley–Quintessa, Sawyer, Pope Valley, Titus, Trespass…..to name a few. What an amazing amount of talent all in one room!
It really seemed like Thanksgiving. Fall is in the air. Everyone brought some great dish–candied walnuts, twice baked potatoes, green beans, chocolate cake. Scott and I had the traditional turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes. It was an absolute feast! It was such a great turnout, we had to set tables inside and out. It was great to have all these wine professionals give their suggestions of which Scott Harvey wine went best with this diverse meal. Even our cat, Tom, got into the act. We'll have all the pairing suggestions in our November newsletter. A great time was had by all. It sure is terrific to have friends that will help out in pinch.
