Being a German trained winemaker I love making Rieslings and feel that Michigan grows some of the best Riesling in America. The wine grown by Black & Red Vineyard in Omina on the Leelanau Peninsula was produced at 45 North winery in Lake Leelanau, Michigan.

We are a wine company that specializes in Riesling and will produce Riesling from those appellations in America that produce it best. Our wine maker, Scott Harvey feels that Michigan is an up and coming area that has the ability to produce world class Riesling similar to those produced in Germany After judging the Michigan State Competition for a few years, Scott was able to determine that Shawn Walters was emerging as the super star of Michigan winemakers and approached him to co-make this wine for Jana Winery. This wine is made in a dry style picked at low brix and high acidity to produce a crisp low alcohol Kabinett style Riesling.
