Lamb Burgers with Tzatziki Sauce

Lamb Burgers w ZinfandelTzatziki Sauce

2 cups plain nonfat yogurt
1/2 medium onion, chopped
1/2 cucumber, peeled, seeded and diced
1 Tbs. Minced garlic
2 Tsp. fresh lemon juice

Mix Tzatziki Sauce ingredients together in medium bowl. Season Tzatziki sauce to taste with salt and pepper.

One of the best pairings with Zinfandel is lamb.  We serve these lamb burgers at quite a few of our events, always to rave reviews.  Our Mountain Selection Zinfandel is made for a casual dinner or drinking on its own.  Prep time around 30 minutes and will serve 4.

Lamb Burgers

1 lb. ground lamb
2/3 cup fresh white breadcrumbs
1/2 medium onion, chopped
2 Tbs. chopped fresh parsley
4 Tsp. minced garlic
1 1/4 tsp. dried oregano

Mix lamb and remaining five ingredients in large bowl until well blended. Season generouosly with salt and pepper. Shape mixture into four 3/4 inch thick patties. Preheat broiler or grill. Place lamb patties on broiler rack or grill and cook until cooked trhough about 4 minutes per side.
