Eight Years, and We Are Still Here!

by Scott Harvey on June 12, 2012

We started this company in 2004.  A lot has changed in the last eight years, and if we had not changed along with it, we would not be here today.  In 2004 there were 2,059 wineries in California.  Today there are over 3,360.   Jana and I have both been in the wine industry for over 25, and in 2004, we started the company with the  idea that most of our wine would sell through the three-tiered distribution system.  It started out okay selling wine through distributors, but as there became more and more wine labels available and the economy turned sour we had to quickly switch gears.

Social media was quickly developing the ability for us to better communicate directly to our customer base.  No longer did we have to completely rely on a third party (the distributor) to get our wines into restaurants and stores where the consumer might purchase them.  Through email, winery flash sites, our growing wine club and a well-managed tasting room in Sutter Creek, we are now able to directly communicate with our customer base.  It hasn’t been easy, but the company has grown and profited because of it.  I can always make the wine, that has not changed much over the last eight years.  But Jana’s ability to see and embrace the developments of social media, direct communication and one-on-one customer service is part of the reason we are prospering today.  The other part is all in thanks to our loyal customers and wine club members.

Scott & Jana- Congratulations on 8 years in business and many happy returns. We have enjoyed your wonderful wines for many years thanks to our Amador County compadres Regina and Michael Levison in El Dorado, and we have made fans of your wines in turn with some of our Midwest friends as well. Simply put – we love your wines! Congratulations again and best wishes going forth!

Hi Bill and Julie, Scott and I appreciate the kind words. We’re certainly grateful for Regina and Michael and please thank them for us, too. It sure is helpful to us to have you spreading the word–even to the midwest. It will ensure at least another eight years!
